Guo Aijun, professor of the School of Economics, Lanzhou University, suggested that a belt zone be established in the northwest economic corridor, with the connection of transportation, network of pipes and other infrastructure of the five northwestern provinces as the basis; the important city cluster as the carrier; the pilot free trade zone, state-level new area, and customs special supervision zone as the platform. What’s more, the belt zone was featured in high-efficient industry spatial agglomeration; reasonable matching of city, population and industry; full coordination between economic development and ecological protection; effectively compatible with major national development strategy.
