On October 14, the Provincial Training on Capacity Building for Fighting against Poverty opened in Institute of County Economic Development (Institute of Rural Revitalization Strategy) for the purpose of strengthening the capacity to develop local county economy and providing more support on poverty alleviation in Gansu province. The opening ceremony was hosted by Mao JinHuang, Executive Dean and presented by Wang Dingfeng, Member of Standing Committee of the CPC Committee of Lanzhou University and Director of Organization Department.

Wang Dingfeng said, the important speech addressed by General Secretary Xi Jingping during his vistit to Gansu in August had given us major guidance and clear requirements to fight against poverty. These remarks fundamentally tell us where we should go for winning the battle of poverty relief. The training should be centering on the realities of our provincial county economy and based on what Xi stressed in his important speech and what significant plans the central government and provincial party committee made. He suggested that we should figure out concrete measures to boost the capacity of government and Party officials and leaders on promoting local economic growth through this training, so that we can put what the General Secretary Xi Jinping guided and required into practice.

During the graduation ceremony, Mao Jinhuang presented his heartfelt thanks to all the participants for their full support. He said this training has been attached great attention from Organization Departments of Gansu Provincial Party Committee and the Party Committee of Lanzhou University. Our institute did a good job in coordinating, organizing, making training schemes and teaching plans, selecting targeted policies and theories and so on so as to ensure the training was smoothly conducted. He also expected all of the students in this training are able to exert new ideas and thoughts and creative measures into their practical working. Besides, he hoped, as we updated our thought, together with other people in China, we would contribute to fighting against poverty of Gansu for a better-off society.

In addition, Liu Changcheng, Deputy Mayor and Member of Standing Committee of Wuwei Party Committee, addressed that through this training, all of the learners had an overall and systematic understanding of theories and policies on county economy, which can help them do their work more precisely and effectively. This training also helped them level up the capability of promoting county economic growth and enhance their faith to win the battle of fighting against poverty.

Experts from the School of Marxism, School of Economics of Lanzhou University, Communist Party School of Gansu Province (Gansu Administration Institute), Gansu Provincial Poverty Alleviation Office and Yongdeng County Government serve as teachers in this training. A total of 51 participants including some leaders of the cities and regions or officials from some units having poverty relief tasks as well as members of leading groups of poverty alleviation participated the training.
