Zhang Jingfeng was born in 1977 at Zhouzhi County, Shaanxi Province. He is the Associate Professor and Master’s Tutor of the Institute of Archaeology and Museology, History and Culture College, Lanzhou University. He is specialized in Research on Archaeological, Art of the Grottoes and Dunhuang Studies with the qualification of archaeological excavation led by the National Cultural Heritage Administration.

1. Study on Dunhuang Yin and Mogao Grottoes (Zhang Jingfeng, Lanzhou, Gansu Education Press)
Having comprehensively studied some caverns excavated or jointly developed at Mogao Grottoes by Yin’s family in Dunhuang, he analyzes the thoughts and functions of Buddhism, and artistic values displayed in those caverns, which provides a methodology for artistic and archaeological studies on Dunhuang Grottoes.
2. Collection of Archaeological and Artistic Research in Dunhuang Grottoes (Zhang Jingfeng, Publishing House of Minority Nationalities)
In this book, he engages in the textual research on the functions of Buddhism, painted sculpture art, portrait and art of pioneers of Dunhuang Grottoes and contents of typical murals (Sutra painting).
3. Introduction to the Painted Sculpture Art of Dunhuang Grottoes (Zhang Jingfeng, Zheng Binling, Gansu Education Press, 2016)
In this book, they mainly studies classification of the colored plastic art in Dunhuang Grottoes based on different eras and provides a methodology for the study of the colored art in Dunhuang Grottoes.

In this paper, having investigated the murals on No. 321 cavern at Mogao Grottoes in an all-round way, he thinks this grotto represents the confrontation and interpretation of two views on Dharma ending age of Buddhism (Ten Saṃsāra of Ksitigarbha faction and Pure Land School). And it is reflected that the Pure Land School come out on top.
3. A Study on the Auspicious White Wolf Statues at the Mogao Grottoes, DUNHUANG RESEARCH, (5), Zhang, Jingfeng, 2013
This paper is a detailed study on the arrangement of two animal statues in No. 321 cavern at Mogao Grottoes, now kept in Russia, and the extent statues in No. 321 cavern at Mogao Grottoes, and posits that the two original animal statues are auspicious white wolves. Their appearance in the caves was related to Yin Shouzhong, a member of Yin’s family at Dunhuang.
4. Popularity of Illustration of Infinite Life Sutra and Buddhism Means of Shandao Monk during Early Tang Dynasty in Dunhuang Reflected on Murals in No. 431 Cavern at Dunhuang Magao Grottoes, DUNHUANG RESEARCH, (4), Zhang, Jingfeng, 2010
Having investigated all the restored murals in Cavern No. 431 at Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes during the early Tang Dynasty, he thinks the sutra illustration at the Mogao 431 cavern reflects the Prthag-Jana thought of Monk Shandao and related to the west reincarnation of pure land theory. Besides, he regards the restoration of murals in Cavern No. 431 establishes the first place for Buddhist rites to connect to the West Pure Land.
